A Louisville hotel will be temporarily closing as it undergoes a renovation and full rebrand under a new hotel flag.

The Comfort Inn & Suites Airport and Expo at 653 Phillips Lane is being rebranded as a 96-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, according to filings submitted this week to Louisville Metro Government.

An employee at the Comfort Inn & Suites confirmed the rebrand when I called the hotel Tuesday and said the property is slated to close next month to make way for the renovations. The hotel does not have a firm reopening date yet, but the employee said they are aiming to be finished in time for next year’s Louder Than Life Festival, a music festival held in September at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

The building plans filed with the city did not disclose an estimated construction cost. The hotel’s owner, SIMRIM LLC, is listed as the developer on the city building plans and is working with Louisville-based Edward Eiche Architect on the design.
