Chesterfield sees a major uptick in new hotel development

Take a look at 12301 Redwater Creek Road in Chester and you’ll see little more than trees and a small stormwater retention pond banded by a Cracker Barrel, the Chester Skateland roller-skating rink and an offramp for southbound Interstate 95’s Route 10 exit.

But if all goes according to plan for Sina Hospitality CEO Ravi Patel, soon this plot of land will sport a seven-story, 122-room SpringHill Suites Marriott hotel. Construction for the upper-end, all-suites hotel is expected to begin later this month; completion is anticipated in the first quarter of 2021.

It’s only one of the latest hotel projects in the works for Chesterfield, which has seen an increase in hotel development over the past year and half.

“Chesterfield has a lot of good demand generators, [including] the proximity to I-95,” explains Patel, whose company owns and operates 16 hotels in Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee; another four are scheduled to come online by 2021. “You get travelers from the north and also from the south, and Chester is kind of the halfway point.”
